Littelfuse Pxxx0S3N SIDACtor Protection Thyristors

Littelfuse Pxxx0S3N Series High Surge Current SIDACtor Protection Thyristors are designed to protect equipment located in hostile environments from overvoltage transients. The Pxxx0S3N high-surge current thyristors protect RS-485 data interfaces, AC or DC power supplies, and other exposed interfaces in industrial and ICT applications. Pxxx0S3N SIDACtor protection thyristors come in the DO-214AB package. These thyristors switching voltage VS are much lower than alternative Gas Discharge Tubes (GDTs), and on-state voltage VT is much lower than alternative GDTs, Metal Oxide Varistors (MOVs), and TVS diodes. Typically, Pxxx0S3N thyristors are used in light dimmers, rectifiers, strobe lights, and motor drive speed controllers.

If there is one thing that electronic engineers hate more than unplanned power outages, it’s a good old-fashioned power surge that can destroy computers, backup drives, and pretty much anything else connected to the main-powered network. The Pxxx0S3N Series SIDACtor Protection Thyristors are the right choice for individuals wishing to shield their circuits from such surges. Thanks to their ability to withstand surge currents up to 3000A and surge voltage protection from 6V to 350V.

The Pxxx0S3N can operate from -65°C to +150°C temperature range and can withstand several surges without displaying any symptoms of degradation. Additionally, due to the Pxxx0S3N's high operation, it is applicable in many communication buses, including RS-485 and RS-232.
