Honeywell BES LITE Battery Safety Electrolyte Detectors
Honeywell BES LITE Battery Safety Electrolyte Detectors are compact devices designed to detect electrolyte vapors from lithium-ion batteries, indicating early thermal events. The BES LITE sensors provide a three-state analog output and integrate diagnostics for reliable monitoring. These devices use proprietary gas-sensing technology to detect gases released during various stages of thermal runaway. The BES LITE safety detectors operate within a temperature range from -20°C to +70°C and feature a maximum supply voltage of 5.5Vdc. Typical applications include light industrial equipment, micro mobility systems, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), and medical devices.

Like early warnings, like the low gas light on my car. I’d love to have a light on my pantry to indicate a low snack count. Honeywell hasn’t made that yet, but their BES LITE Series Battery Safety Electrolyte Detector gives you that critical early warning for lithium-ion batteries by monitoring vapors from failing lithium-ion cells, detecting problems minutes before catastrophic failure. It operates from a nominal 5V supply and draws just 3mA during normal monitoring, keeping power consumption to a minimum. The unit features a 3-pin interface for power, ground, and an analog output that sits at 2.5V during normal operation, going to 5V for first vent detection and 0V for device fault. It can operate from -20°C to +70°C. The BES LITE Series offers essential protection for data centers, telecom facilities, energy storage systems, portable generators, and anywhere lithium-ion batteries are used to keep critical infrastructure running.
