DATAPOINT OF THE WEEK: New car registrations in Europe increased 5.9% Y/Y, the sharpest rise since April 2024, but declined 9.7% M/M in July, according to ACEA data. The M/M decline is in-line with typical seasonality as it is the beginning of summer Holiday season in Europe. BEV sales surged 33.6% Y/Y but declined 2.7% M/M, making July the 6th month in the last 7 to see Y/Y BEV growth. BEVs now account for 17.2% of the market, up from 13.6% in July 2024. PHEV sales also saw significant growth, rising 53.3% Y/Y, though declining 6% M/M, reaching its fifth straight month of strong double-digit Y/Y growth. HEVs increased 11.5% Y/Y in July, but decreased 10.9% M/M. HEVs now account for 34.3% of the market, up from 32.6% in July 2024. ICE registrations declined 13.3% Y/Y in July, marking its 14th straight month of Y/Y declines.
