How to identify Component Polarity
Non-Solid Electrolytic Capacitors have a marking on the cathode (negative) side.
Solid Electrolytic Capacitors have a marking on the anode (positive) side.
Surface Mount LEDs on top has a cathode (negative) marking and cathode (negative) chamfer. The bottom has cathode (negative) indicators.
Through-Hole LEDs cathode (negative) side is flat, and a shorter cathode lead.
Through-Hole and SMD Diodes have a marking on the cathode (negative) side.
