Toshiba Photovoltaic-Output Photocouplers
In a photovoltaic-output photocoupler, the light emitted by an LED is received by a photodiode array (PDA), which converts it into an output voltage. Photovoltaic-output photocouplers can be used to create a MOSFET gate driver without using an external secondary-side power supply. Toshiba offers general-purpose photovoltaic-output photocouplers and those having an internal shunt resistor for gate capacitance discharge.
