TE Connectivity / AMP Econoseal J Series Connectors provide waterproof and durable electrical connections for automotive engine compartments. These devices achieve waterproofing through wire seals and cavity plugs with three parallel ridges for easy insertion, along with a preloaded seal ring in the plug housing. The insertion force is reduced by beveling the ridge edges and designing smaller front ridges. These connectors allow trapped air to escape to handle temperature and pressure changes. The housing plate detects half-mating, enhances contact retention, provides a double tab-lock function, and prevents contact damage during mating/unmating. These sealing surfaces are internal and preserves waterproof capability even if the connector is damaged during assembly.
