Sometimes companies name parts after lakes or mountains which are nice but have no practical meaning.  Others tell you exactly what they’re for, like TDK’s xEVCAP series film capacitors. I’m gonna blow your mind: these are film capacitors for xEVs.  Specifically, they offer low ESR and ESL, can handle overvoltages, and are compatible with wide bandgap semiconductors. Designers can use them as a modular solution for the DC-Link in traction inverters. xEVCAP provides the flexibility to address different power ranges and inverter design changes, making them ideal for platform concepts and scalable designs. This scalability also allows designers to standardize capacitor modules, reducing cost and minimizing the variety of components to stock. The xEVCAP series is rated for up to 920Vdc and available with capacitance values from 60uF to 270uF. They utilize a polypropylene dielectric that provides self-healing properties. They’re AEC-Q200 certified and adhere to the IEC TS 63337:2024 standard.

The xEVCap shows high flexibility in power ranges and design changes for the inverter and is perfect for the platform concepts and scalable designs.
