TDK NT Series ThermoFuse Varistors

TDK NT Series ThermoFuse Varistors are high surge current capability products with highly reliable fuse designs. These varistors consist of a disk varistor that is connected in series with an integrated thermally coupled fuse designed to trip in the event of overheating due to excessive overvoltage. This trips the fuse and disconnects the overheated varistor from the power circuit and thus prevents flames from developing. This increases the reliability of the equipment to be protected. The NT ThermoFuse varistors meet UL 94 V-0 requirements and are also listed as Type 4CA in UL 1449, 4th edition.

The NT Series ThermoFuse Varistors are available in 14mm and 20mm diameter disks type. These varistors are designed to absorb maximum surge currents with an 8μs/20μs pulse of between 6kA and 10kA at rated voltages of between 130VRMS and 750VRMS. The NT varistors feature a monitor output lead that can be used to send a status signal, for example, to an LED to indicate that the fuse has been activated. These NT ThermoFuse varistors are high-energy AdvanceD E2 devices with a -40°C to +85°C operating temperature range. Typical applications include home appliances, power supplies, inverters for solar installations, drives, and smart meters.
