If you’re tall a person, you stick out in a crowd and sweet old ladies ask you to get things from the top shelf in the grocery store. If you’re a tall component, you just stick out, especially as lighting controls, thermostats, IP cameras, and other designs trend towards slimmer profiles. Panasonic’s EKMB and EKMC low-profile lens PIR motion sensors provide comparable performance to their standard lens counterparts, but at a height of just 10.9mm.
The sensors can detect objects up to 5m away and have 32 detection zones covering a 110 by 110° field of view. Panasonic offers the EKMB and EKMC low-profile PIR sensors with an analog output with adjustable sensitivity, or with a digital output with various sensitivity levels. Digital output sensors also include options for standby current as low as 1 microamp to support battery powered and energy harvesting applications.
