Molex On-Metal Wi-Fi Antenna is a metal surface-mount antenna that allows mounting directly on the metal surface without compromising RF performance. These Wi-Fi antennas are off-the-shelf 2.4GHz/5GHz external antennas used in the Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The small form factor provides space savings, and the adhesive on the rear and screw mounting options enable instant application anywhere on the device. The on-metal Wi-Fi antenna features 2.0W RF power, 50Ω impedance, and 2.0dBi/5.5dBi peak gain. These antennas operate under the temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and are compatible with SMA and U.FL used in applications involving smart wireless solutions like home automation, smart appliances, IoT and IT infrastructures, security, and surveillance.

This TTI Tech Specs video for Molex On-Metal Wi-Fi Antenna explains that this antenna covers the 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands and, as the name implies, it can be mounted directly on metal surfaces without compromising its excellent RF performance. The antenna has a compact form factor and can be mounted with either backside adhesive or screw mounting options for instant application, while the 300mm cable with an ultra-miniature coax connector makes for easy connectivity.

I’ll finally be able to hook up my mini-submarine to the harbor Wi-Fi when I’m docked. See, the problem is that my sub is basically a big metal tube, like most subs are, which had made Wi-Fi a bit of a challenge, but that’s all fixed now that I have Molex’s Wi-Fi On-Metal antenna. The antenna covers the 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands, and, as the name implies, it can be mounted directly on metal surfaces without compromising its excellent RF performance.
The antenna has a compact form factor and can be mounted with either backside adhesive or screw mounting options for instant application, while the 300mm cable with an ultra-miniature coax connector makes for easy connectivity. The Molex Wi-Fi On-Metal antenna is also waterproof, and even though it’s probably not intended for a submarine, it is ideal for outdoor connected homes and IoT devices or commercial vehicles.
