Molex BSC Backplane Connector System

Molex BSC Backplane Connector System is integrated with a blind mating PC board mountable connector using a proprietary Molex Backplane Adaptor in the widely used BSC and BSCII Backplane Connector Systems. These connectors can be gang-mounted for more density. The daughter card of the BSC connection family has a plug-in feature that enables insertion or exchange without affecting the input/output ports or the cables that connect them. This functionality is provided by the blind mating interface of the BSC connector family.

The BSCII connectors offer extra float in the Y (0.030") and Z (0.080") axes and are backward compatible with the original BSC. This extra float gives the BSCII more capacity to make up for the card cages’ imprecision. The BSC/BSCII adapters, which come with ceramic or metal sleeves, are used to connect BSC/BSCII to normal SC connectors. The shuttered SC version, which protects against laser exposure and dust contamination, is additionally offered in addition to the conventional SC-style adapter. Typical applications include computing equipment and amplifiers.
