Fuses are an essential component for protecting electronic circuit, but if you are looking for the fuse of the future, then look no further as we unveil the eFuse Series Power Switch ICs from LittelFuse (how many times can you say fuse in the same sentence, eh?). This range of fuses incorporates active semiconductors that monitor the current flowing through them, and disconnect the supply should the current exceed a predefined level. Some fuses, such as the LS0504EVT233, determine the current trip level internally, while others, such as the LS0505EVD22, use an external pin that gives the designer plenty of options. These fuses can also disconnect the supply should an overvoltage event occurs, can protect against thermal damage, and can provide soft-start capabilities to ensure a steady and stable voltage rise. Finally, these fuses can handle continuous current ratings of up to 6A, a maximum voltage range from 20V to 30V, and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +150°C.
