Littelfuse HWB Series Power Distribution Modules Fuse Holders

Littelfuse HWB Hard-Wired Power Distribution Modules (PDMs) offer designers a variety of improvements in dealing with electrical system design challenges. PDM's for vehicles or commercial equipment feature multiple electrical power outputs, acceptance of many fuses, fuse types & relays and allow for custom configuration. With the elimination of internal bussing the user can customize their own circuitry utilizing direct wire-to-component connections.

Littelfuse HWBs are small enough to be installed almost anywhere the flow of electrical power must be protected or controlled and can accommodate from 3 (HWB6) to 30 (HWB60-AL) mini (2.8mm) plug-in circuit protection components. Accessory and overflow circuits include lift buckets, specialized lighting, motors, pumps, switches, sirens, plows, larger alternators, additional batteries, GPSs, SatCom systems, etc.

Marine, Oil and Gas equipment: All Littelfuse HWB PDM sizes are waterproof to protect the components inside from corrosion due to road splash, salt spray, and dust intrusion. HWB6, HWB12, HWB18 and HWB60-AL have Ingress Protection ratings of IP67 and IP69K (proven to resist ingress of high temperature and pressure wash). Each unit except HWB18 has two AssureLatch yellow positive-sealing latches that open easily to remove the cover for component replacement. The latches combine with the unit's gasket to keep the cover sealed securely against water and dirt intrusion.

Features

  • A UL certification for this fuse holder means it can be used as a component in material handling and electric battery-powered industrial truck applications with confidence that it meets the requirements of UL 583 standards.
  • Accepts any MINI (280 styles) fuses or circuit breakers.
  • AssureLatch yellow positive-sealing latches keep the cover securely in place while allowing for fast service.
  • Clear cover available to help identify fuse condition
  • Compact size allows the unit to be installed in vehicles with limited space.
  • IP67/IP69k sealed units can be installed virtually anywhere on the vehicle and stands up to road splash and salt spray.
  • TPAs (terminal position assurance locks) give secondary locking protection to the wire leads, which help keeps leads securely in place.
  • Tethers available to prevent loss of cover during service.
  • Universal Bracket: HWB18, HWB12 & HWB6 share the same mounting bracket so electrical system modification can be performed without bracket or sheet metal alterations.
  • Wires plug into the back of the unit using industry-standard TE Connectivity MCP terminals.

Applications

  • Accessory circuits
  • Main unit on small vehicles
  • Overflow circuits
  • Upfitting vehicle electrical system

As you might imagine, heavy equipment and commercial vehicles tend to have really complicated power distribution systems. Between inline fuse holders, isolated relays, circuit breakers, and the primary power distribution system, technicians troubleshooting these electrical systems will usually let out a silent scream that only dogs and cats can hear.

Littelfuse’s hardwired power distribution modules (PDM) for vehicles or commercial equipment consolidate the components needed for accessory and overflow circuits in one location. The power distribution modules include the HWB series and HWA series modules that are equipped with best-in-class IP67 and IP69K water-proof and dust-tight sealings that also protect the sensitive internal components from corrosion and salt spray.

A high temperature gore vent allows for heat and pressure to be expelled while maintaining IP ratings for an operating temperature up to 125oC. The HWB family is compatible with MINI® fuses that offer a wide range of protection from 2A up to 30A, while the HWA modules are compatible with 40A rated ATO® fuses, making the HWB and HWA family an excellent choice for custom or low volume circuit protection designs.
