Kingbright AA4040 Right Angle Surface Mount LEDs
Kingbright AA4040 Series Right Angle Surface Mount LEDs are designed to illuminate at a right angle to the direction of mounting. These LEDs are available in various colors and dimensions and include AIGaInP on GaAs substrate Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). The AA4040 RA LEDs are suitable for all SMD assembly and solder processes. These LEDs are halogen-free, RoHS-compliant, and feature level 3 moisture sensitivity. The AA4040 series LEDs are recommended to use with the help of a wristband or anti-electrostatic glove when handling. Typical applications include status indicators, backlight, home/smart appliances, wearables, portable devices, and healthcare.

Housed in a 4mm x 4mm PLCC2 right-angle SMD package, the Kingbright AA4040 provides a taller profile and up to 3 times higher intensity than conventional chip-type side-emitting SMD LEDs, making it an excellent option for light guides, backlighting, industrial and network applications.
The Kingbright AA4040 is offered in single and bi-color configurations, plus white and infrared as well as a phototransistor option, providing exceptional application versatility. The LEDs are driven with a 20mA current. They can withstand ESD events up to 3000V, are rated for a maximum reverse voltage of 5V and a maximum reverse current of 10mA.
