Aratas D6T MEMS Thermal Sensors
Aratas D6T MEMS Thermal Sensors enable contactless measurement of surface temperatures by detecting infrared radiation emitted by objects. These sensors offer precise, low noise temperature detection, direct temperature output, and multiple sensing element configurations. The D6T MEMS thermal sensors operate within a temperature range from -40°C to +80°C and a power supply voltage range from 4.5Vdc to 5.5Vdc. These components have an operating humidity range from 20%RH to 95%RH and a maximum current consumption of 19mA. Typical applications include air conditioners, lighting systems, refrigerators, and human presence detection systems.

Many smart systems claim to use presence detection. However, if you’ve ever had smart lights turn off while you’re sitting in the room, you realize they actually use motion detection, not presence detection. Omron’s solution is to provide true presence detection with their D6T MEMS Thermal Sensors. The D6T is available in multiple configurations, including a 4 × 4 array, a 1 × 8 array, a single element with a narrow field of view, and a single element with a wide field of view.
Rather than detecting the overall temperature change, the non-contact thermal sensor constantly measures the temperature detected by each element, allowing it to detect people as well as moving and stationary objects. Based on the model, the sensors support detection ranges from -40°C to +80°C while maintaining high resolution and high accuracy. By integrating the MEMS and processing ASIC, the sensors provide industry-leading SNR. Furthermore, the I²C interface makes it easy to integrate into applications such as energy management, security, factory automation, and even smart kitchen appliances.
