Amphenol Advanced Sensors BAF Water Detection Sensors
Amphenol Advanced Sensors BAF Series Water Detection Sensors detect moisture leakage by measuring changes in the sensor's resistance, sending a signal to the Battery Management System (BMS) to alert the driver. The BAF water detection sensors comply with RoHS directive 2011/65/EU and are simple to install. These water detection sensors operate within a temperature range from -40°C to +85°C and have a rated power of 5V DC. Typical applications include monitoring sump pumps, detecting overflow of water or fluids, identifying water in battery packs, and detecting leaks from burst pipes.

Leaks spell disaster. In hydrogen balloons they create historical catastrophes, in underground waterlines they create backyard lagoons, and for batteries in electric vehicles, they create thermal runaway events and dangerous fire conditions. Amphenol Advanced Sensors BAF Water Detection Sensor provides detection of coolant leaks, water ingress in packs and inverters, HVAC condensate accumulation, conductive fluid build-up, and flood events in EV supply equipment and stationary storage. With a 510kΩ resistor, the water detection sensor measures changes in the resistance value and provides the battery management system a signal for alerting the driver when a leak is detected. The 5V DC BAF Water Detection Sensor offers easy installation with RoHS compliance and an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
