3M .050" Cable-to-Board Connectors

3M offers the 3M Ribbon Cable Wiremount Socket Assembly, .050" x .050", 451 Series and the 3M Shrouded Boardmount Header, .050" x .050", 452 Series, designed to connect .025" pitch ribbon cables to printed circuit boards. Together with compatible 3M .025" pitch ribbon cables, these components form a complete cable-to-board interconnect system. The compact .050" pitch supports high connection density while conserving PCB space, making the connectors suitable for communications, military/aerospace, industrial equipment, data centers, and high-performance computing applications.

The 451 Series socket incorporates 3M insulation displacement contact (IDC) technology to help maintain secure connections and signal integrity. IDC mass termination allows up to 30 lines to be terminated in a single cycle, reducing the need for automated termination equipment and supporting manual cable assembly. Friction-latch configurations and optional strain relief help improve connection reliability, while an optional ejector latch mechanism provides positive locking and cable removal. The 452 Series shrouded boardmount header is available in multiple configurations to support design flexibility and minimize PCB footprint, with SMT versions offered in reel packaging for automated placement and PCB standoffs supporting pin-in-paste processing.
