These semiconductor lasers are opto devices, often referred to as laser diodes or LDs. ROHM is one of the industry’s largest producers of laser diodes. The RLD65PZX3 family of products includes monochrome, coherent and pulse characteristics of laser light. This allows them to be used in optical discs (optical pickup units (OPUs)), laser printers, range finders, leveling, gesture control and barcode scanners. Laser diodes have been increasingly used and are expected to significantly increase as light sources for ToF (time of flight) and LiDAR (light detection and ranging), with the development of laser diodes for sensing applications. ROHM offers a broad lineup of laser diodes optimized for various use cases.
